How soon should you book your wedding photographer
Your wedding photos are one of the most important mementos you’ll have to look back on your special day, so it’s important to take the time to find the right photographer to capture your memories. When it comes to booking your photographer, the key question is – how soon should you book them?
For a typical wedding, it’s usually recommended that you book your photographer 8-16 months before the actual date. This is because we often get booked up very quickly, especially during the prime months when most weddings take place. If you don’t book your photographer far enough in advance, you may not be able to get the photographer you really want, so it’s important to act quickly.
In addition to booking your photographer as soon as possible, it’s also important to have an initial consultation with us to discuss your expectations. This is to make sure that we would be a good fit, both in communication and editing style. For example, at JAG we are a “vibrant, true-tone” editing style, and we focus on candid photos as well as giving direction on the wedding day. You should meet with your photographer about 2-4 week out to go over the vibe of the wedding, what shots you’d like taken, family shot list, etc.
Booking your wedding photographer is a very important decision, so it’s best to book them as soon as you have your venue is booked. This is so you know your wedding date set in stone. Doing so will ensure that you have the best photographer to capture your special day, and that your photos will be exactly what you want.
